Spasibo i do svidanija Rossiya!!
We are on Aeroflot
flight SU1411 from Yekaterinburg toMoscow. Everyone made it to the
flight even though the hassle at the airportwas pretty bad again. The
thing is, we need to get to the second plain fromMoscow to Kiev, Ukraine
and someone should make sure all the instruments andtechnical gear are
on that plane too. It’s a good thing it’s Sunday. We’regonna drive like
crazy to the venue when we land in Ukraine to make everythingready for
the show in the evening. It’s gonna be one hell of a day for our
crewboys.
Tonight is our first show in Ukraine ever. Finally!!!Getting to the venue in the afternoon traffic would have been a mess if itwasn’t Sunday. Someone has thought this whole trip through pretty smart. Theonly thing that wasn’t too smart was that someone planned the day-off inYekaterinburg on Friday. Some of the boys looked pretty “crispy” on Saturdaymorning after all the well-known Russian hospitality…;) Boys are boys. I slept11 hours like a baby tiger.
We played three shows in Russia this week and the only thingI can say is WOW!! We’ve had some difficulties in the past with the littleRussian tours we did, but this time everything has been as easy and pleasant asever. In every city (St. Petersburg, Moscow and Yekaterinburg) the crowd, staffand the clubs have been just amazing and we have felt very special the wholeway. I don’t know why it was so hard arranging this trip for us and it even gotcancelled a few times, but now looking at it afterwards, the work wasdefinitely worth it.
I don’t know if it’s the long break we had between the rockshows, but it felt like the crowd was as loud and great as ever! I had somestrange thoughts during the Big Band Theory Tour if we should change our stylejust a little bit towards that. Nope. Rock is the thing we’re born for andthere we shall stay. The Big Band and Acoustic things are like nice littleholidays from our day jobs, but the old school stuff is still where we feellike home ;)
It’s a shame we can’t get to know the cities too much onthese trips. Especially I have to rest my throat on the off days and preparemyself for the next day’s show. There’s nothing worse than singing with abroken throat. Just try to sing 90 minutes very loud next time you’re sick. Ok,don’t try it. Anyway. In Yekaterinburg the band guys & crew took a visit toone of the clubs and I went shopping to one of the malls with Heikki but that’sabout it. We knew that Moscow is cool and St.Petersburg is a bit like Stockholmbut even Yekaterinburg felt really nice. Of course the slowly coming springhelps all this too. When it’s dark and cold, nothing is pretty. I heard it’sclose to +30C and sunny today in Kiev. I didn’t bring my shorts. But I have mysun glasses, unlike Heikki…
Everyone in the band and crew are playing the Hill Climbmobile game. It’s pretty cool and FREE and you should check it out if youhaven’t yet. Usually I suck at games, but this time it finally seems as if I’mone of the best. It’s very addictive. The monster truck is my favorite vehiclein the game. The game is developed by two Finnish guys - Go Finland!! Sami isfun to watch when he plays. He really moves with every muscle even though hejust has a tiny iPhone in his hands and when he dies in the game, he releasesthese amazing sounds of disappointment. It’s so annoying how good he is inNHL13 with Play Station. I just can’t beat him!!
Anyway. I just wanted to thank you all for the great tripand the fantastic moments on stage. We really hope we can come back soon!
I’ll take a nap now. It’s gonna be a long day until I lay myhead on the hotel bed in Kiev tonight. And my mother will be there too checkingus and the show out, so I better look fresh ;)

Musical Downhill Mega Tour 2013
Welcome ladies and
gents to Sunrise Avenue “Musical DownhillMega Tour 2013!” Well it’s
actually just one show in Samnaun in Switzerland.The tricky thing is
that we haven’t played a single traditional rock show forthe last 6
months and that means we all need to learn the songs again. I’mlistening
to the shows from late 2012 and it’s the 4th song andalready my 5th
“aaah, that’s how it goes…” We’ll see how lost we areon stage tomorrow.
I heard the stage is somewhere 2,5 kilometers above the sealevel and it
can be cold. We’ll after the winter we had this year in
Finland,anything above zero will feel like a Caribbean Cruise. The best
thing aboutthis trip is that some of us have our snowboards with us and
we can enjoy theslopes a bit too.
No matter how super amazing the Big band Theory tour was, Imust admit I have been missing these versions. It’s “Sweet Symphony” on myheadphones right now and I didn’t remember the song is this good. I just hopeit’s not too cold tomorrow. Last time we played at a festival at an alpinecenter, it was minus 15 degrees Celsius and I broke one guitar and damaged mythroat. And the set tomorrow is 90 minutes long… We’ll see. I’ll fight ;)
The Big Band Theory Tour
What a trip and what a gang! Especially since we werehonestly very nervous about the crowd reaction and the feedback we’d get fromyou guys, the tour topped all expectations. I can’t describe how much fun itwas. And getting to know those fantastic new souls, Tero, Jay, Aleksi, Roope,Markus and Pete on the road was one of the highlights of the last years. A hugethank you to Tero once more for the fantastic arrangements on the horn section.The more I play with real front line musicians from outside the band, the moreI respect them. I love the fact that we’re doing these full acoustic and bigband etc. tours outside the “real” Sunrise Avenue tours. It feels like a holidayfrom the band life and the rock’n’roll duties. And it also gives a totallyfresh and new outfit to many of the songs. The only downside is that I have togo through the arrangements now for at least a dozen times to get my mind setto the original stuff again. But it was so much fun that none of us complainthe extra work. We even had to learn new versions for the HR3 Big Band sessionat the end of the BBT tour. That we managed in one day so this can’t bee toohard either. Thank you everybody at HR3 and the HR band, especially Mr. EdPartyka for the outstanding arrangement and devotion to the project. Quite atour ending ;) You can find the traditional results of the tour voting at theend of this blog. Seems to me that the same winners are there tour after tour…;)It was great everywhere, but only one can be the winner.

It’s veryannoying planning a one-week trip to some country and then you just end upsitting at home because the trip didn’t happen due to some business bull shit.Anyway. I guess this time we’re really going. We have even bought the flighttickets and booked the hotels and all ;) The Russian crowds have been extremelyloud and this is exactly what we’re expecting this time too. The trip toUkraine will be our first, so we‘ll get a new country to our band’s “played-there-list.”The 28th country if I counted right. Can’t wait! I heard Kiev is abeautiful city.

We don’t call our album Yellow Snow anymore. Now the baby’sname is UNHOLY GROUND. That is one of the songs that’ll definitely be on thealbum. It was a pretty soft acoustic thing in the beginning, but in studio itstarted rocking like moose (as we say in my country). I have a gut feeling thiswill be the final name too. We’ll see. The first things we’ve done together withUniversal regarding the next album and all have felt very goo and veryprofessional. It’s so nice to know some key folks from the Universal machinefrom the past.
I hope you all are enjoying the spring fully and hope to seeyou tomorrow on top of a mountain and next week closer to the ground level inRussia and Ukraine.

Wywiad z Ukrainy.
28 kwietnia w Kijowie Sali Kryształowej: koncert fińskiej grupy Sunrise Avenue. Z tej okazji lider zespołu, Samu Haber, z którym przeprowadziliśmy wywiad.Samu Haber - pół fiński, pół Niemiec. Mieszka w Helsinkach rozpoczął karierę na lodzie, ale w wieku 16 lat postanowił poświęcić się muzyce. I nie bez powodu: Sunrise Avenue natychmiast podbił serca miłośników muzyki z ich szczerości. Ich debiutancki album On The Way To Wonderland zdobył platynę w Finlandii i Niemczech, złotem pokrył się w Austrii, Szwajcarii i Grecji.Samu, jak zacząłeś swoją karierę muzyczną?Boooy ... Można napisać całą książkę na ten temat. Właściwie robię to teraz. Założyłem Sunrise Avenue, kiedy miałem szesnaście lat. Zdecydowałem, że piłka nożna nie była moja sprawa, ale muzyka jest tym co chciałbym robić w życiu. Mieliśmy dwóch facetów z gitara akustyczna i graliśmy na każdą okazję: urodziny, pogrzeby, imprezy, lato ... i wszystko było super! W 2002 roku postanowiłem połączyć prawdziwy zespół i szukałem partnerów do współpracy. Musiałem ominąć 102 muzycznych producentów by znaleźć odpowiednich ludzi - to było trudne, ale warte wysiłku. Mieliśmy wzloty i upadki, mieliśmy członka zespołu - czasem spokojnie, czasem z długich i kosztownych procesów sądowych. Ale muszę powiedzieć, że nadal nie będzie nic innego. Jeśli podążać za głosem serca, dostaniesz dobry wynik, choć można popełniać błędy na drodze. Dziś - zespół, którego członkowie dogadują się bardzo dobrze i jesteśmy bardzo wdzięczni za to, co mamy. Mam nadzieję, że możemy być razem na zawsze. Jeśli będziemy ciężko pracować i być uczciwym wobec siebie, naszych fanów i ludzi, z którymi współpracujemy - zrobimy to.Dlaczego taka nazwa - Sunrise Avenue? Dlaczego zmieniliście nazwę grupy z oryginalnego Sunrise?Chciałem wymyślić coś z Sunrise. To był mój pomysł, ja po prostu czułem. Cóż, lubię to słowo, co jest teraz.Co teraz robisz? Na wycieczkę, nagrać nowy materiał lub po prostu odpocząć?W rzeczywistości, wszystko razem. Mamy deklarację, ale także mamy wystarczająco dużo czasu na pisanie nowej muzyki.Podróżowałeś w wielu krajach na całym świecie, co lubisz najbardziej? Mówiąc tak, czujesz się jak gwiazda rocka?Graliśmy w całej Europie - od Moskwy do Barcelony i od Oslo do Aten. Za każdym razem, wyszedłem z chłopakami na płaszczyźnie, czuję wdzięczność za danie nam szansy.Na Ukrainie, kiedy wystąpicie?Wkrótce będziemy - 28 kwietnia. Przygotuj się na spotkanie z pięcioma facetami, którzy położą się na scenie jak najwięcej. A jeśli ktoś chce nam brawo po koncercie - będzie to miły bonus (uśmiecha się)Jakie są twoje plany na przyszłość? Jak o sławie światowej?Nie wiem, jak to jest ... Sława jest niczym, jest to jedna z rzeczy, których w ogóle nikt nie chce. Sława
oznacza, że nie mogą bezpiecznie chodzić po ulicy bo ludzie oglądają się na ciebie, nie możesz iść do sklepu, bo ludzie natychmiast poproszą o
autograf. A czasem może powodować lęk. Mam tylko nadzieję, że chłopcy będą grać razem, a my z przyjemnością grać więcej koncertów w różnych krajach.To znaczy, że nie lubisz być sławny? Uwagę od publiczności, fanów, wszystko ..Nauczyłem się z tym żyć. Każdy
z nas rozumie, że jest to część naszej pracy, a jeśli chcemy podróżować
i grać razem, musimy również przyjąć tę stronę umowy. Cieszę się, że wielu ludzi jest wystarczająco inteligentny, aby uświadomić sobie, że każdy z nas ma życie osobiste tez. Istnieją, oczywiście, idioci, ale jesteśmy duzi chłopcy i może obsługiwać to (śmiech).Mówiąc o fanach. Czy komunikujecie się z nimi w jakiś sposób, w sieciach społecznościowych, lub osobiście?Oczywiście, komunikujemy się! Musisz tylko zachować bezpieczną odległość. Mogą one być bardzo irytujące, jeśli pozwoli im się zbyt blisko. Ale mamy najlepszych fanów na świecie. Szanuję ich, że zostawił nam żyć nasze życie w pokoju.Jaki rodzaj muzyki wolisz, kto jest twoim nauczycielem muzyki?Kocham wszystko - od Bacha do Keith Urban i różowy i aż do Metalliki. Lubię prawdziwych artystów, którzy piszą własne piosenki. The Beatles dla mnie - najlepszy zespół wszech czasów. A moja mama jest ulubionym zespołem.Jakie jest pytanie, na które nie zwróciły, ale naprawdę chciałbyś odpowiedzieć?Wierz mi, na 7-8 lat byłem już pytany o wszystko (śmiech). Do zobaczenia wkrótce!
